Custom Locations for Activities

Custom Locations: An Overview of reviewing, creating and updating. 

Custom Locations are a useful feature that allows you to create your own custom location or add a location for a journey that does not have a street address or location data available through Google Maps.

To access Custom Locations in the Journey Management module, begin by visiting the homepage of the SafetyIQ application. From there, head to the Settings page found in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Click on the Modules tab, then select the Journey Management module to configure it accordingly.

Access the Manage Custom Location lists to view and manage your custom locations. manage custom locations

Upon accessing the Manage Custom Locations section, you will see a list of all the custom locations saved in your SafetyIQ account.

How to Create a new Custom Location

To create a new Custom Location that can be used company-wide, simply click on the 'New Locations' button.

Fill out the required form to create the new custom location, the required fields are the following. Make sure to input the latitude and longitude using decimal degrees format.

  • Custom Location Name
  • Latitude
  • Longitude

If you're not sure how to find the latitude and longitude of your location, there are two options available. You can obtain the necessary information from Google Maps. Alternatively, you can zoom in on the displayed map and choose the desired location to automatically fill in the latitude and longitude.

  • Option 1

    In Google Maps, navigate to your desired location and right-mouse-click. This will show you the latitude and longitude.

    Using the displayed map in SafetyIQ, zoom in on the displayed map and choose the desired location to automatically fill the latitude and longitude

Updating Existing Custom Locations

To make changes to existing Custom Locations in your business account, simply locate the specific custom location that needs updating.

To modify the restricted fields, simply click on the edit button situated at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Once you enter edit mode for a Custom Location, you can make changes to the fields as needed. If you ever need to delete the custom location, simply click on the delete option that will appear. Remember to click on 'save' to keep any changes you have made.
